cafestorea, 3 janak rd

A selection of some handpicked coffee conversations, roasted retro-style in a realistic setting to keep the aroma and warmth intact. Served in a demitasse with a tinge of good humour and a thick creamy layer of live music, it's a cuppa that's sure to create a connect with the coffee connoisseur.

Taking on the theme of coffee, and conversations that revolve around it; the setting for Roobaroo Theatre Group's Cafestorea, 3 Janak Rd, is realistic yet fictionalized, theatrical yet day-to-day, and set up in the year 1959 yet contemporary.

The play begins with the ever enchanting voice of Ameen Sayani on Radio Ceylon's Binaca Geet Mala. Capturing 55 mins of Cafestorea, the play approaches its audiences in the form of snapshots. From breaking the ice to creating a perfect setting of love confessions, from nostalgia to addiction, from disappointments to smiles; coffee accompanies one and all.

The USP of the play lies in its quintessentially post-independent coffee house setting and the use of live music and instruments like, Synthesizer, harmonica, whistles, tabla, matka, etc.

Written and Directed by Sidhant Mago, and co-directed by Priyanka Kandpal, the play will be staged on 4th November 2012 at Akshara Theatre, Baba Kharag Singh Marg, New Delhi at 4pm and 7pm. The tickets are available via phone booking. For more details, call/sms- 9953741561
